Zucchini Bread

Are cooling temps chilling your mood? Bring the warmth inside with some baked zucchini bread.  This fuss free recipe takes about 20 minutes to prep and an hour to cook.  Cozy up with a bite of bread and some cider and you've got a warm pick me up.  Enjoy!

Dry ingredients:
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
3 tsp cinnamon

Other ingredients:
3 eggs
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup honey
3 tsp vanilla
2 cups grated zucchini

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.  In a large bowl combine all dry ingredients and sift together.  In a separate bowl beat eggs, sugar, oil, honey and vanilla until smooth.  Add dry ingredients and mix until just blended.  Add the zucchini and stir until combined. Divided into 2 greased loaf pans and bake for 40-50 minutes, or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Two Piece Dressing to Try

Easter is right around the corner and I know what trend I'm sporting to easter dinner, two piece dressing! At first some of the matchy matchy combos were a little too much for my taste but now retailers have narrowed in on the right silhouettes and prints to make this trend one to try.  Here are a few sets I found online that I'm dying to try.  Each skirt/top combo is in a different style so there's one for every body! Winter Necessities

Looking for a winter boot that functions in the snow and also looks good? Here are a few of my favorites!  What I love most about these is they are lighter in weight than your typical snow boot.  No clunking down the grocery store aisle or around the mall anymore. Also, the black goes perfectly with a legging for your weekend errands. Happy Shopping

Easy DIY Acrylic Painting

It's the weekend, the perfect time to indulge yourself in a little DIY home makeover.  I was looking for a fun pop art inspired painting to fill some white space in my condo. Not wanting to spend hundreds of dollars on art I did some searching of "easy art" and stumbled upon the idea of word art.

First step: hit the clearance racks! Go to TJ Maxx or another discounter and purchase the cheapest painting they have that fits the size you want. Doesn't matter what the painting is of because you're going to paint right over it.

Next go home and tape around the edges of your purchased painting so you don't get paint on the frame.  Now paint over the entire painting with a background color of your choice-- I decided to go white so all the bright colors I was using would pop.  Then have at it! Pick a word you won't get sick of looking at and start there.  I'm not much of an artist but I knew I could write the word "love" about 200 times. So that's just what I did...in about 20 different colors.  The impact of this art is all about the color choice so as long as you have that down you're bound to love the results. Have fun!

Plaid Jacket

Today's post is all about plaid.  Plaid is at the top of my list of fall/winter prints, but why post about it now?  Becauseeee all of the great plaid pieces are on sale! It's that time of year where retailers are clearing through all of the fall merchandise to make room for spring.  Just because the stores are telling us to think spring doesn't mean the weather is. In most regions it's still plenty cold to get a few months out of plaid.  I paired my plaid jacket with a tonal animal print top and dark wash denim.

Perfect for your next Mexican fiesta or cocktail party!

Ingredients:
2 ounces silver tequila
4 ounces blood orange juice
1 teaspoon agave nectar
squeeze of a lime
salt/sugar for rim

Directions
Add first 4 ingredients to a martini shaker filled with ice. Shake for about 20 seconds. Next, mix a little salt and sugar in a shallow dish, wet the rim of a martini glass and roll in the sugar/salt mixer.  Pour your drink into the glass and enjoy!

If your local grocery store doesn't carry blood orange juice go ahead and mix equal parts fresh squeezed orange juice and grapefruit juice in place of the blood orange juice.

Our Wedding!

Looking back at 2014 all I can remember is wedding bells.  Eric and I tied the knot on November 8th and had the best time doing it!   The year leading up to becoming a Mrs. was a whirlwind, but filled with love and lifelong memories. We couldn't be happier!
Here are some pictures from our special day.

All photos were taken by our amazing photographers, Leo & Jenny Photography.  I'll continue to post about the vendors we worked with throughout the year for all of you future Milwaukee Brides!
